Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center – Hartford

Trinity Health Of New England includes Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, Johnson Memorial Hospital, Saint Mary's Hospital, and Mercy Medical Center. Our hospitals, walk-in clinics, medical offices, specialized facilities, affiliated institutions, and foundations serve a population of nearly 3 million people and includes over 11,000 colleagues. This fellowship will focus on the Hartford Market – Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center is a 617 bed Level 1 Trauma Center, major teaching hospital, and the hub healthcare provider for the region.
The administrative fellowship is a one-year, project-based program designed to transition early careerists into management positions through mentoring and practical experiences. The Fellow will strengthen leadership skills through numerous value-adding projects focused on the Hartford Market operational and growth strategies. The fellow will report directly to the Hartford Market Executive Leadership team to include Dr. David Shapiro, Chief Medical Officer, Dan Moen, Interim President, Dawn Cimmarusti LeRoy, Chief Nursing Officer and Biancha Mathieu, Executive Director of Operations.
Trinity Health of New England – Hartford

Illinois
Loyola Medicine – Greater Chicago Area

The Loyola Medicine Administrative Fellowship provides future healthcare leaders with dynamic management and leadership training across Trinity Health's only academic health system. Loyola Medicine encompasses Loyola University Medical Center, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (community hospital), MacNeal Hospital (community/teaching hospital), and a network of ambulatory care centers across Illinois. This fellowship is regional, providing the fellow with unique opportunities to participate in system-wide initiatives in both the academic and community hospital settings within the robust Chicago healthcare market.
Fellows have a direct reporting relationship with Loyola Medicine's Executive team members including Shawn Vincent, Regional CEO and Tad Gomez, Loyola University Medical Center's President. Through these preceptors, the program promotes learning and application of practical skills in operations, finance, and front-line management to prepare fellows for rewarding leadership careers in healthcare. Fellows also get exposure to in-depth, high-level strategic planning and other system functions, including human resources, marketing, information technology, and revenue cycle. This one-year fellowship is rotation-based with the opportunity to lead both smaller and longitudinal projects.

Indiana
Saint Joseph Health System – Mishawaka

Saint Joseph Health System is a regional health system devoted to improving the health and well-being of the Michiana community. The system consists of two hospitals, multiple ambulatory sites, and a variety of other patient services. The Administrative Fellow for SJHS works directly with Chris Karam, CEO, and his executive team based out of the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center located in Mishawaka, IN. The fellow will have the opportunity to explore various avenues of healthcare administration and have guidance to identify potential roles for post-fellowship. The primary project for the fellow changes based on system focus and priority strategic aims that are provided by Trinity Health. Past fellows have gone into ambulatory operations, Epic Implementation Project Management, and a significant leadership role in our COVID Vaccine Clinic operations. A previous fellow focused on the internal communication plan to improve bi-directional communication between executive leadership and colleagues in the front line.
Iowa
MercyOne – Des Moines

The MercyOne Administrative Fellowship is a one-year learning experience designed to cultivate leaders in the field of healthcare through exposure to a wide range of operational, administrative, and strategic projects and activities identified by the fellow and their preceptor to align with the fellow’s personal and career interests. Throughout the fellowship, the fellow will develop a close working relationship with the MercyOne senior leadership team.
Michigan
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Livonia

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Fellowship Program is designed to provide experience, exposure, and educational opportunities for talented future leaders in the healthcare industry. Aligned with Trinity Health's mission and strategic plan, DEI focus areas include diversity in governance and leadership, workforce equity, culture of inclusion and belonging, supplier diversity and health equity. The Fellow will have an opportunity to lead and support projects in focus areas locally, regionally, and/or system wide. In addition, the Fellow will partner with and gain exposure to other departments such as Community Health and Well-being, Marketing and Communications, Advocacy, Health Informatics, Supply Chain, Human Resources, Clinical Operations, and the Senior Executive Leadership team.
LaRonda Chastang, SVP of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, will serve as the preceptor and work with the Fellow to tailor the experience to their personal goals and interests. She is a fearless leader with an incredible team working to improve the health and wellbeing of the organization, the patients, and the communities we serve. The Fellow will gain competencies in project management, communication, data analysis, advocacy, strategy, and leadership.
Supply Chain Management – Livonia

The Trinity Health Supply Chain Administration Fellowship is designed to offer tomorrow's healthcare leaders a rewarding practical and strategic growth experience. Fellows will rotate through all supply chain disciplines and engage in projects to gain a deep understanding of hospital, clinic, and corporate healthcare operations. Fellows will also engage in supplier trade relationship projects to gain insight into business strategies, risk assessments and global supply considerations.
Ed Hisscock, SVP Supply Chain Management, will serve as preceptor and coordinate involvement with all levels of administration providing opportunity to develop interpersonal leadership competencies and executive presence.
Trinity Health of Michigan – Southeast Michigan

The Trinity Health of Michigan Fellow will report directly to Shannon Striebich, Ministry President and SVP of Operations for the Michigan region of Trinity Health. The fellowship is project based and individualized to fit the specific interests of the Fellow. This one-year program promotes learning as well as use of practical skills in hospital management, operations, and finance. The Fellow will have exposure to all aspects of clinical operations across Trinity Michigan and will have the opportunity to work with leadership teams and support project work across the State.
Trinity Health IHA Medical Group – Ann Arbor

The Trinity Health Michigan Medical Groups Administrative Fellowship will give aspiring healthcare leaders a comprehensive experience in medical group operations and strategy.
Trinity Health Michigan Medical Groups consists of two medical groups, Trinity Health IHA Medical Group and Trinity Health Medical Group West Michigan.
Trinity Health IHA Medical Group
Headquartered in Ann Arbor, MI, Trinity Health IHA Medical Group is a 1,000-provider multispecialty medical group that is physician-led and committed to providing high quality, convenient, affordable care for patients. Trinity Health IHA Medical Group has been growing annually at over 10% since joining Trinity Health in 2010. Our 150+ practice locations and 35+ specialties deliver over 1,000,000 visits each year to patients across Southeast Michigan.
Trinity Health Medical Group West Michigan
Trinity Health Medical Group West Michigan is a multi-specialty physician network that employs more than 800 physicians and advanced practice professionals in Grand Rapids, Grand Haven, Muskegon, and the Lakeshore. Our care model centers around the patient relationship within a Catholic faith-based setting, in which we become lifelong health partners with patients and their family.
The on-site host location for the fellow will be Trinity Health IHA Medical Group in Ann Arbor with occasional travel to West Michigan. Ann Arbor is in a prime location, being home to the University of Michigan and voted the best city in America to live in by Niche. Not to mention, it is located only 45 miles from Detroit and 25 miles from Trinity Health System Office in Livonia.
The Administrative Fellowship will be project based to give the fellow a comprehensive experience of medical group leadership. Fellows will work with physician and administrative leaders across many departments including operations, quality, IT, strategic planning, mergers and acquisitions, marketing, business intelligence, HR, finance, and project management. The Administrative Fellow will join a dynamic and growing organization dedicated to excellent patient care. Jason Harris, COO of Trinity Health Michigan Medical Groups will serve as the preceptor for the fellowship.
Examples of past fellow projects:
- Helped implement a variety of safety measures for staff working in higher risk practice locations
- Project managed a group of leaders to optimize patient online scheduling capabilities on both MyChart and the Trinity Health IHA Medical Group website
- Started a Patient Family Advisory Council to gather patient feedback and incorporate it into leadership decision making
- Launched an EMR patient feedback pilot throughout several practices to gather feedback and reduce ER utilization among patients
- Project Manager over Weekly Operations Huddle which gathers directors and senior leadership together to review outcomes and initiatives
- Contributed an inventive method of tracking and scheduling patients post hospital stay leading to improved care management
- Developed reports utilized by intercompany departments to track open encounters, organizational priorities, and other key metrics
- Led comprehensive initiative to secure enterprise vendor contracts resulting in over $100,000 in savings through cost analysis, negotiation, and vendor selection oversight
Trinity Health Medical Groups – Livonia

The selected Trinity Health Medical Groups (THMG) Fellow will get exposure and hands-on learning experiences that cover the gamut of medical group executive leadership roles, including operations, strategy, finance, planning and development, quality, patient experience, and business intelligence. Trinity Health Medical Groups represent 5,720 FTE providers (physicians and APP’s) among 15 regional medical groups across the country.
The Administrative Fellowship will be project based to give the fellow a comprehensive experience of medical group leadership, with the projects focused on mission-critical issues that are of practical importance to our medical groups and patients. Fellows will work with physician and administrative leaders across operations, quality, strategic planning, business intelligence, finance, and clinical arenas. There are several project-focused areas that could serve as a focus area for the selected fellow, depending on the fellow’s interest, including:
- Strategic growth of Trinity Health Medical Groups
- Optimizing the financial performance of Trinity Health Medical Groups
- Improving hypertension control among our patients
- Optimizing revenue cycle performance among Trinity Health Medical Groups
- Establishing a medical group-focused peer review process for Trinity Health
- Improving online scheduling for Trinity Health Medical Group patients
- Improving patient access to Trinity Health Medical Group clinics
- Organization of Trinity Health Safety Net Clinics
- Improving provider efficiency within TogetherCare, Trinity Health’s Epic EMR instance
- Improving the rate of social needs screening among Trinity Health Medical Group patients
- Establishing a 24/7 virtual primary care platform
- Development of a digital assistant program nationally
- Develop standardized workflows for core processes like referrals, prescription refills, etc.
John Caruso, VP Medical Group and Ambulatory Strategy will serve as the preceptor to the fellow. The fellow will collaborate with all Trinity Health Medical Group colleagues depending on the specific initiative(s) and/or projects assigned.
Trinity Information Services – Livonia
Primary Preceptor: Matt Trimmer

The Trinity Information Services (TIS) Administrative Fellowship position is designed for postgraduates to develop talent and future leaders in the complex environment of information technology at a national healthcare system. The position further provides for an opportunity to gain in-depth exposure to the vast scope of Trinity Health (e.g., enterprise IT support, finance, IT hospital operations, planning, etc.) through diverse project work, informational meetings, and shadow experiences.
The TIS Fellow will have a chance to participate in and lead projects focused on supporting the application environment and the entire Trinity Health across the continuum of care. The position offers flexibility to gain exposure to as broad a scope of the system as interested, with guidance from the Preceptor, to experience leadership and executive decision-making processes, business operations, strategic planning in alignment with organizations goals, application implementation and optimization process improvement and project management.
During the fellowship, potential exposures and experiences include:
- Participation in Information Services Leadership Team (ISLT) meetings.
- Collaborative discussions to develop TIS strategy through Business Management Meetings.
- Participation in senior leadership meetings (vertical).
- Developing deliverables to contribute to innovative program build and design.
- Shaping workforce management strategy.
- Design and organize deliverables for presentations to ISLT, regional and system level executives.
- Collaboration on regional or ministry level submissions for Strategic Financial Planning and budget processes.
- Meet & greet opportunities with leaders across the system.
- Opportunities to travel to various Regional Health Ministries allowing for unique learning environments, networking opportunities and day-to-day operations in an acute care setting.
