Trinity Health Of New England’s Saint Mary’s Hospital (Waterbury, CT) proudly hosted the Black Men in White Coats (BMWC) Youth Summit for the second consecutive year. It was a powerful and inspiring event that brought together nearly 1,300 students, parents/guardians, educators, health care professionals, and community partners.

The summit, held in partnership with the national BMWC organization, is part of a growing movement to increase representation in medicine by fostering early exposure, mentorship, and leadership development among underrepresented youth, starting as early as third grade.

Throughout the day, students engaged in hands-on workshops, including suturing, resuscitation, and ultrasound demonstrations. Parents, guardians, and educators also had the opportunity to attend sessions on supporting a student’s medical aspirations, from navigating residency to maintaining mental wellness.
