Livonia, Michigan, March 23, 2020 — We are extremely grateful for the outpouring of community support to provide unique and innovative Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to our hospitals and clinics.

While we understand that many of you have dedicated your time and resources to making PPE, at this time we cannot accept homemade PPE/equipment such as facemasks. Only certain materials are known to provide safe barriers from COVID-19 for health care providers. We have no way of verifying if homemade products meet these standards. We are also being very cautious to ensure we don’t inadvertently expose colleagues who are allergic to certain materials that may be contained in homemade PPE.

We are, however, accepting traditionally manufactured PPE donations through your local Trinity Health location. Many industries use facemasks and other protective gear that is also used by health care providers. These industries include dentistry, veterinary, beauty (hair and nail salons), construction and others. We welcome donation of these items if they are in the original packaging and unopened.

We encourage you to stay home and practice social distancing as much as possible and therefore ask that you do not bring PPE directly to our facilities but please call ahead to coordinate delivery of donations to local facilities.

For corporate donations of PPE, please call Trinity Health at 313-378-7171.

Thank you for your continued support of Trinity Health and its Mission to serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming health presence within our communities.
