Holy Cross Health (HCH) stands out as one of Trinity Health’s most uniquely diverse ministries, with colleagues and patients representing a wide range of ethnicities, cultures, and lived experiences. Recognizing the power of that diversity, a cross-functional team from Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Organizational Effectiveness, and Mission came together over the past eight months to design and implement a multi-phase Culture Experience for all HCH leaders, which included supervisors and above.
The goal? To deepen connections, spark authentic collaboration, break down silos and foster a shared commitment to lead differently.
The series was thoughtfully structured into four progressive phases, each building on the last. The evaluation feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Senior leaders shared that they gained a deeper appreciation for one another. Managers and above expressed growing confidence in their ability to lead Holy Cross Health into a future of connection, compassion, and shared accountability. There was a palpable sense of hope, change, and renewed commitment.
It was an ambitious target, but the organizers are proud to share that nearly 1,100 colleagues completed the training across fourteen in-person sessions held over six days (three in March and three in April).
The impact was clear. Data from the Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) survey showed that 92% of respondents said the training would directly influence their approach to patient care. The organizers are eager to see how this insight translates into measurable improvements in outcomes.
At the heart of all the efforts to plan and execute this level of colleague engagement is the belief in one team - a united and flourishing Holy Cross Health.
