A strong public health infrastructure is the foundation for providing access to high-quality, comprehensive and affordable care to all. COVID-19 clearly demonstrates how underinvestment in public health contributes to inequities across our communities. Trinity Health—and other health systems—met the COVID-19 pandemic head-on and have helped to fund and carry out critical public health services.

This week, Trinity Health joins the American Public Health Association and other partners for National Public Health Week 2022. The “Public Health is Where You Are” campaign celebrates the power of prevention, advocates for healthy and fair policies, shares strategies for increasing equity and champions the role of a strong public health system. We will call attention to the intersectionality of public health by advocating for and educating about our most vulnerable populations.

Trinity Health is encouraged by bipartisan efforts in Congress to pass public health and preparedness legislation. Success includes a fully resourced public health infrastructure, where public health departments and health systems collaborate in innovative ways to respond to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and prepare for future public health emergencies, while improving the health of communities.
