As Senior Vice President of Diversity and Inclusiveness, VeLois Bowers is focused on ensuring that all employees have an opportunity to contribute and succeed. She provides leadership in the development of a culturally competent environment that thrives with a diverse and inclusive group of associates, medical staff and business partners serving in the healing ministry of Trinity Health.
Before joing Trinity Health in January 2007, she served as the Kellogg Company’s Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion for two years, and seven years overall in positions of varying responsibilities in staffing, employee relations and diversity. In 1999, VeLois left Kellogg to lead the Whirlpool Corporation’s diversity strategies and initiatives as its Vice President of Global Diversity, where she served for five years until Kellogg asked her to return in 2004 to lead its diversity and inclusion initiatives. Her career experience also includes human resources positions at Western Michigan University.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. She is a member of several professional organizations including the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources, Diversity and Inclusion Food Group Industry Council, Network for Executive Women, founding member of the Council for World Class Communities, a member of the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff Foundation Board, and the chair of the Conference Board – Diversity and Inclusion Council. VeLois has taught courses and led workshops at several institutions, and has been a guest speaker at the University of Notre Dame, Andrews University, Northern Caribbean University, and Lake Michigan College. |
