HOSPITAL LEADERSHIP CHANGES ANNOUNCED
St. Joe Macomb CEO to Take Helm of St. Joe Oakland in Pontiac

NOVI, Mich. – Trinity Health today announced changes in senior management at two of its southeast Michigan-based hospitals.

Jack Weiner, President and CEO of St. Joseph’s Mercy of Macomb, a 435-bed hospital system in Clinton Township, has been named president and CEO of St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, a 508-bed hospital system based in Pontiac. Weiner replaces Deborah VandenBroek, who resigned in late October.

The search process for a new CEO at Oakland was facilitated by Trinity Health's Talent Management / Succession Planning process, which allowed local and system leaders to quickly identify Weiner as a leading candidate.

“We are pleased that Jack will have this opportunity to transfer within the system,” said Michael Slubowski, Executive Vice President – Eastern Division, Trinity Health. “In his five-and-a-half years at Macomb, Jack developed a strong management team and delivered dramatic improvement in key operating areas. We feel confident he will have continued success in his new leadership role at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland.”

A search process for a permanent CEO at St. Joseph’s Mercy of Macomb will begin immediately. Barbara Rossmann, EVP and Chief Operating Officer, will serve as Interim CEO. Rossmann has been at St. Joe Macomb for four years, and prior to that served in an executive leadership role at the former Mercy Health Services (now Trinity Health), in Farmington Hills.

As the nation’s third largest Catholic health system, Trinity Health owns and operates St. Joseph’s Mercy of Macomb in a joint venture relationship with Henry Ford Health System. Trinity Health also owns and operates St. Joseph Mercy Oakland, as well as other southeast Michigan health systems based in Ann Arbor, Livonia and Port Huron.

Weiner began his health care career as a pharmacist, receiving his PharmD in clinical pharmacy in 1974 from Wayne State University. He also holds a master of arts in health services administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Buffalo.

Before coming to St. Joseph’s Mercy, Weiner was vice president for facility and ambulatory operations at St. Mary’s Health Services, another Trinity Health organization based in Grand Rapids. Prior to his work with Trinity Health, Weiner served as president and CEO of Northeastern Hospital in Philadelphia.
