Interim CEO of Mercy Hospital – Port Huron (Mich.)
Accepts Permanent Position
NOVI, MICHIGAN, Feb. 3, 2004 – Peter Karadjoff, Interim
President and CEO of Mercy Hospital in Port Huron, Mich.,
has accepted an offer that makes him the permanent leader
of the 119-bed hospital system.
Karadjoff, 39, had been serving as interim CEO since October
2003, when former CEO Mary Trimmer left to become vice president
over Trinity Health’s system-wide implementation of
state-of-the-art clinical and revenue cycle computer systems.
Mercy Hospital was the first of 17 Trinity Health member organizations
to receive the common core computer system.
“Mercy Hospital is an outstanding organization with
a distinguished past and a very bright future,” Karadjoff
said. “The integrity, quality of professionalism and
commitment to Mercy demonstrated by physicians, nurses and
staff has been inspiring. It’s a great hospital and
a terrific community. I look forward to leading Mercy as it
continues to meet the challenges of providing compassionate
and quality medical care.”
The Mercy Hospital Board of Trustees was unanimous in its
support for Karadjoff.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,”
states Tim Ward, Chair of the Mercy Hospital Board of Trustees.
“Over the past several weeks, we’ve observed Peter’s
strong leadership skills and, after consulting with our medial
staff administration, made a unanimous decision in the best
interest of this institution.”
Representatives of the Mercy Hospital Board and medical staff
enthusiastically endorsed the recommendation.
“Over the past few months, Peter has taken the opportunity
to get to know the Medical Staff at Mercy Hospital,”
said Thomas A. Coury, MD, Mercy Hospital Chief of Medical
Staff. “He has new thoughts and the energy necessary
to meet the needs of the medical staff. This simplified our
decision to approve of his appointment. He will make a marvelous
addition, not only to Mercy, but the entire community.”
Prior to joining Mercy Hospital, Karadjoff spent the past
six years with Trinity Health – the last three of which
as Vice President of Performance Improvement. He has repeatedly
demonstrated leadership and support in operation turnarounds
at many Member Organizations.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Administration
from Western Michigan University and a Master’s of Business
Administration from Wayne State University. He currently serves
as President of the Michigan Healthcare Executive Group and
Associates (MHEGA), and is a member of the American College
of Health Care Executives.
“Peter has a strong grasp of the complexities present
in today's health care environment, and is well versed in
operations and performance improvement,” states Mike
Slubowski, Executive Vice President, Eastern Division, Trinity
Health. “We believe he has the talent and experience
to build on the enormous contributions Mercy Hospital has
made over the past 50 years, and take the hospital to the
next level." |
