Trinity Health Executive Lou Fierens Named
to Modern Healthcare’s 2003 “Up and Comers”
List
NOVI, Mich.– Lou Fierens, Vice President of Supply
Chain Management at Trinity Health, Novi, Mich., has been
named to the 2003 “Up and Comers” list, a national
recognition program sponsored by Modern Healthcare magazine.
Fierens was one of 12 executives selected from among 150 nominations
and was the only finalist from Michigan.
The program annually recognizes rising stars in the health
care industry ages 40 and under who represent the future generation
of health care leadership.
Fierens oversees the Supply Chain Management department at
Trinity Health, managing the processes of procurement, delivery,
storage, distribution and usage of medical products and supplies.
Since joining Trinity Health in 2001, his office has implemented
focused single-source programs that achieve optimum pricing,
quality, service and technology across the health system’s
supply chain.
“Lou’s ability to transform Trinity Health’s
thinking and processes has enabled us to enjoy unprecedented
expense control and visibility in our supply chain,”
said Michael Slubowski, Executive Vice President, Eastern
Division, Trinity Health, who nominated Fierens for the award.
“He truly represents the best in health administrative
leadership. It is indeed an honor to have him as a key member
of our leadership team, and we’re thrilled to know Modern
Healthcare considers him one of the finest young leaders in
health care.”
Fierens spent the first 15 years of his career with General
Motors Corporation in positions of increasing responsibility
in manufacturing, production control, logistics, strategic
planning, and worldwide purchasing.
Fierens holds a bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management
from Michigan State University, and an MBA in operations management
from the University of Michigan. He also completed an Accelerated
Development Program (ADP) for International Managers at the
London Business School.
