Trinity Health CEO Judy Pelham Recognized for IT Achievements
Judith C. Pelham, President and CEO of Trinity Health, has
received the CEO IT Award, presented annually by the Healthcare
Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and Modern
Healthcare magazine.
The award recognizes one or more health care industry CEOs
who demonstrate leadership and commitment to using information
technology as a means to advance their health care organization's
strategic goals.
"Being recognized as a leader in health care IT reflects
well on the progress Trinity Health has made in IT, which
is a great testament to Judy’s vision for transforming
health care for the twenty-first century,” said Jim
Elert, Chief Information Officer, Trinity Health. "Under
Judy’s leadership, we have invested in information technology
infrastructure to increase both the safety of patients and
the quality of care that patients receive at Trinity Health
hospitals. She also understands the importance of developing
a culture that embraces technology as a tool for improving
care and sharing information.”
Trinity Health is investing more than $200 million in an
integrated clinical and financial information solution that
unites computer systems with best practice processes in the
areas of clinical, revenue cycle and enterprise resource planning,
including supply chain management. Trinity Health is one of
the largest health systems undertaking full CPOE, ADE, ERP
and EMR integration.
"I am honored that HIMSS and Modern Healthcare have
taken note of Trinity Health's commitment to using IT systems
for the betterment of quality patient care and safety,"
said Pelham. "This award also recognizes the commitment
of people across Trinity Health who are doing the hard work
of implementing these systems and changing their underlying
work processes. They're the true heroes who make the change
happen."
Also receiving this year’s award were G. Richard Hastings,
President and CEO, St. Luke’s Health System, Kansas
City, Mo., and Leonard Schaeffer, chairman and CEO, WellPoint
Health Networks, Thousand Oaks, Calif.
A five-member panel of judges, two CEOs chosen by Modern
Healthcare and three chief information officers chosen by
HIMSS, selected Pelham, Hastings and Schaeffer from a pool
of 42 CEOs nominated for the award. |
