Sister Suzanne Brennan, CSC, Named Catholic Health Ministries
Director on Trinity Health Board
NOVI, Mich. (February 28, 2005) - Sister Suzanne Brennan,
CSC, has been appointed as a Member of Catholic Health Ministries
(CHM), the public juridic person (PJP) that is recognized
by and responsible to the Catholic Church for the Catholic
identity and mission of Trinity Health.
The Participating Entity Representatives from the Congregation of the
Sisters of the Holy Cross and the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of
the Americas, Regional Community of Detroit, made Sister Brennans appointment
to CHM. The representatives are Geraldine Hoyler, CSC, from the Sisters
of the Holy Cross and Linda Werthman, RSM, from the Sisters of Mercy,
Regional Community of Detroit.
Following her appointment, the members of CHM designated Sister Brennan
as a CHM Director on the Trinity Health Board of Directors, which according
to its bylaws must have approximately one-third representatives from
CHM.
We are blessed to have a person of Sister Suzannes knowledge and experience
join Catholic Health Ministries and the Trinity Health Board as we continue
to strengthen the healing ministry of Jesus during these challenging
times, said Catherine DeClercq, OP, Vice President, Governance and Sponsorship,
Trinity Health.
Brennan's distinguished 25-year career has been spent in service to
the poor and marginalized persons of society. She currently serves as
Executive Director of Holy Cross Ministries, which operates a number
of outreach programs in health, education and social services for the
poor and underserved throughout Utah.
From 1995 until 1998, she created and led a non-profit company that
employed homeless and low-income persons in commercial and residential
cleaning services, landscaping and general maintenance.
Her health care career has included serving as President and CEO of
Providence Hospital, Anchorage, Alaska; Mercy Hospital in Cincinnati,
Ohio; and Chief Operating Officer at the former Holy Cross Hospital in
Salt Lake City.
Her past board affiliations include terms on the boards at Saint Agnes
Medical Center, Fresno, Calif.; Mount Carmel Health System, Columbus,
Ohio; and Peoples Health Center, Park City, Utah. She currently serves
as a board member for Mercy Housing of Utah and the United Way - Task
Force for Systemic Change.
Brennan holds a masters degree in public administration (finance) from
Roosevelt University in Chicago, a masters degree in social work from
Loyola University in Chicago, and a bachelors degree in English and theology
from Saint Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana.
