Gospel Concert to Raise Money for Homeless Support Services

Mercy Primary Care Center fund-raiser set for Oct. 21 at Samaritan Center

DETROIT, Mich. – On Friday, Oct. 21, Mercy Primary Care Center will host a Gospel concert featuring some of the area’s finest artists at the Samaritan Center on 5555 Conner Avenue in Detroit. Themed “I Still Believe,” the benefit concert will take place from 7 to 10 p.m.

I Still Believe" is an inspirational evening of song featuring gospel sensation Takara Bolton, Minister Marcus Leslie, Rufus Harris, Diontrae Hayes, Starr Hayes, Stepper of Praises, Otis Walker, Johnny Walker, Earnest Stokes & Family and the Synagogue Baptist Church Music Ministries and Praise Team. Special guest include Reverend Dee Dee Coleman and Pastor Jake Gaines. Reverend Ron Arnold of New Beginning Church will emcee the event.

The goal of the concert is to increase funds available for Mercy’s services to the homeless community. In 2004-2005, the center served the health needs of 5,542 patients. The center’s Specialized Personal Assistance (SPA) program also provides clothing, showers and laundry services. SPA averages more than 300 showers a week and 300 loads of laundry a month.

A donation of $8 a person is asked. All proceeds benefit the homeless community served by Mercy Primary Care Center. For more information, contact Cheryl Hayes at (313) 579-4000 (ext. 2236).
