Genesis puts the power of computerized clinical tools in the hands of its caregivers. In combination with our skilled, compassionate care, these tools will increase patient safety and the quality of care our patients receive. Notable industry studies show that computerized clinical systems offer substantial safety benefits.

Additionally, the project's computerized business tools will enhance patient registration and billing, while improving financial performance.

Our new computer systems, to be rolled out over the next several years to our hospitals, will automate many of the processes that are often done currently with paper and pen:

• Electronic medical records for our patients will replace much of the paper that is shuffled between departments and between those providing care. Patient information will be at your caregivers' fingertips wherever there is computer access.
• Your physician will enter online orders for tests and treatments. Previously handwritten, these online orders, which are easily read, will automatically be sent to the appropriate department so that your care can be delivered promptly.
• Nurses and other clinicians will be able to chart your care at your bedside, using wireless devices like tablet computers. The information they record will be immediately available online to your physician or other authorized caregiver.
• Prescribed medications will be automatically checked against a patient's lab results, and other key information, to ensure appropriate medication and dosing. With the large numbers of new medications becoming available annually, caregivers and patients appreciate this additional "safety net."
